Fast Computers A fast processor doesn't necessarily make a faster computer. Before upgrading your processor it is often worth considering more and/or fast RAM (memory) or a faster hard drive first. Even defragmenting a heavily fragmented hard drive can lead to significant performance increases without having to upgrade at all! To defragment your hard disk, following these steps:
- Select "Start"
- Select "My Computer"
- Right mouse click on "C Drive"
- Left mouse click on "Properties"
- Select the "Tools" tab
- Select the "Defragment" button
- Select "Defragment"
